Risk Management Seminars

Our legally qualified risk managers have developed a series of seminars covering a diverse range of topics which are presented in-house to large practices and in group sessions for smaller practices. These seminars are designed to address the unique risks which confront architects working in the construction industry and provide practical advice on risk management strategies which may assist in reducing exposure to claims. Our risk management seminars are regularly revised to ensure that they reflect current trends in professional indemnity claims, legislative changes and developments affecting the construction industry generally. Under the AACA/AIA Joint Policy on Continuing Professional Development dated November 2006 our risk management seminars provide 1 informal continuing professional development point for every hour of the presentation. These informal CPD points may count towards any relevant State or Territory registration board requirements or CPD requirements for members of the Australian Institute of Architects A+ scheme.

Contract Review Service

Our contract reviews are a valuable part of our risk management service. Our risk managers review consultancy agreements to identify risks relating to professional indemnity insurance cover. Our clients are provided with a comprehensive written review of the professional indemnity insurance risks posed by the terms of those agreements. The review is accompanied by a checklist of some of the more common risk management concerns raised by consultancy agreements. There is no limit on the number of reviews our risk managers will undertake for your practice each year.

Newsletters and Risk Rules

Our quarterly newsletter contains topical articles on insurance, construction litigation and risk management. Our risk management practice notes (Risk Rules) are also available to our clients. These guidance notes highlight emerging areas of risk to architects and offer practical tips to assist in the management of risk within practices. Currently there are about 30 Risk Rules covering topics including Certification, Scopes of Services and Safe Design.

Panel Solicitor Referrals

Our Architects’ Facility clients have access to 15 minutes free consultation provided by our panel solicitors in all States. Panel solicitors are available for telephone consultations in relation to commercial legal issues which may arise in your practice.
